BEAR AWARENESS ONLINE TRAINING
Whenever you are hiking, hunting or enjoying recreational pursuits in the countryside, you might confront a bear. As their habitat is shrinking , these creatures are moving closer to human areas with negative impacts on the population. Relevant information is provided to establish awareness of your surroundings and learn avoidance techniques. Prepare yourself to know what attracts bears and how to avoid and react to a confrontation. A fed bear is a dead bear. Worksites need to utilitze specific techniques to keep away habituated bears.
WHO WILL BENEFIT:
This program has combined the knowledge of bear biologists and forest rangers who understand bear characteristics and their motivations. It was designed for workers, recreational campers, seismic, surveyors, geophysical ,archaeologists, pipeline employees.
The following topics are emphasized
- General Bear Characteristics and behaviours-
- Black bear and Grizzly bears in North American settings
- Various Activities in Bear Country, such as hibernation, range, mating season.
- Confrontations with bears – and reactions including deterrents
LENGTH OF TIME:
Approximately 1.5 hours
Continuous testing is done throughout the program to reinforce the learning. Once you have achieved an 80% pass mark, a certificate of completion will be available for downloading and printing.
